Overview

During this 4-day safari you will visit three of the most well-known reserves on Tanzania’s “northern circuit” – the lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. With all the diverse landscapes and a crater full of animals, this safari has something for everyone and is ideal for those with limited time.

Showcasing Tanzania’s famous northern reserves, this 4-day safari delivers both wildlife and scenery in equal portions.

You are in the professional hands of a registered guide who takes care of the driving and shares their knowledge of environment with you. Travelling between accommodations gives you time to absorb the Tanzanian landscape: Maasai villages and red-robed herdsmen mingle with views of Rift Valley and giant long-dead volcanic craters. Your accommodation – a mix of tented camps and a farmhouse-style lodge – is all en suite and very welcome after a long day on safari. You sit down to candle-lit suppers with cold drinks in a cheery, communal atmosphere, and will have to time to recharge your camera batteries and electrical gadgets.

Ideal for first-time travelers to Africa, this tour delivers a comprehensive and very diverse safari. Given its relatively short duration, it is perfect for those constrained by time or for travelers who want to add on a beach holiday in Zanzibar after their safari.

Day 3 Karatu – Ngorongoro crater

    Safari 5 Days

After the breakfast, the guide will drive you to the main natural wonder known as the Ngorongoro crater. It has walls of about 2,000 ft high and its crater floor spreads for about 102 sq miles. The crater is inhabited by many animal species including; the rare black Rhinos, elephants, as well as the birds. It also contains a river, swamps, a soda lake on top which is also filled with flamingos plus a forest with open plains. You will then descend down to the crater floor to view more wildlife like the hippos and birds.
Most animals remain within the crater due to its high walls. This is the perfect location to view every member of ‘The Big 5’ in one day. We will have a wonderful picnic lunch inside the crater. The unfilled caldera is also home to hyenas, hippo, zebra, wildebeest and an impressive variety of water birds. Your guide will enlighten you by sharing facts about the animals, vegetation and locating hidden animals.

    Day 4Ngorongoro Crater

    5 Days Safari

On this day it is best to leave the hotel as early as possible so you can see the variety of animals that are only active during the morning hours; breakfast will be packed in lunchboxes specifically for this purpose. At 6:30 AM you will set off for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after about an hour you will already be inside the crater.

Ngorongoro is one of the most famous and interesting of Tanzania's national parks because here you can find the greatest number of different animal species per square kilometer. You will have the chance to see buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamus and feline species such as caracals and servals. The luckiest travelers might even see a rhinoceros, an animal whose numbers are rapidly declining.

By lunch time you will arrive at the lake side, where you will be offered lunchboxes, after which the safari will continue, ending in a few hours with a transfer to Serengeti National Park.

On your travels you will also visit a memorial dedicated to two West German researchers, Bernhard and Michael Grzimek. It is them we have to thank for Northern Tanzania National Parks having survived till our times in its current natural state.
